NEWS… I have joined DNA Architects!

I started Steve Andrea Architecture in 2005 and since opening, I have had the privilege of working with a huge number of clients on a myriad of projects. We have built up a loyal base of clients and a catalogue of award winning projects, particularly in the inner suburbs of Canberra.

NOW ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE!

I was invited and have decided to join forces with DNA Architects in BRADDON. DNA is an award winning multi-disciplinary architecture firm that was established in 2001. They have a great presence in the local area that has been grown on quality design delivered with deep client relationships.

I will be continuing the work from Steve Andrea Architecture, now with the backup of the great team at DNA!

ABOUT US

We are a boutique multi award winning architecture studio located in the heart of Canberra designing residential, retail and commercial projects. We are passionate about design and enjoy collaborating with our clients through all stages of the design and construction process. We have a large portfolio of completed homes in Canberra and around NSW, including Thredbo and the South Coast.

Our residential projects vary in size, from renovations and extensions to new houses.  We love helping our clients create a home that best suits their own personal lifestyle. In each project we employ passive solar and energy efficient design principles to provide a house that works with the extremes of the Australian climate.

Many of our projects are located in Canberra’s Inner South and involve adapting the traditional aesthetic of the ‘Canberra Cottage’ into a contemporary family living environment. We have renovated and extended heritage listed houses within the various heritage precincts, working with the associated development codes, practices and Statutory Bodies. We have also completed commercial and retail projects, and a variety of fitouts and conversions for local businesses, working with the clients to maximize the potential of their spaces.

Over the years we have built up relationships with builders, engineers, landscape architects, interior designers and suppliers that we work with closely throughout the design and construction process to ensure quality and realise our client’s vision.

PROCESS

In our experience most projects have three stages.
Summarised as:

1. CONCEPT DESIGN

  • Assessing opportunities and constraints of a site
  • Measured drawings
  • Assessment/interpretation of client brief
  • Develop sketch options to a point where agreement is reached on planning
  • Feasibility costing is often initiated

2. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND APPROVALS

  • Design development
  • Submission for relevant statutory approvals

3. TENDER→ CONSTRUCTION

  • Preparation of tender documentation
  • Co-ordination of consultants documentation
  • Management of the tender process
  • Deciphering of tenders for client
  • Aid in the selection of successful tender or help in selection of preferred contractor
  • Assistance during construction as required.
